Description
This 3D model is a didactic representation of a transverse section of the cervical spinal cord, designed to illustrate the spatial organization of major sensory and motor pathways within the spinal cord funiculi. The model uses differentiated relief levels to support tactile exploration, the gray matter is shown in raised relief, the surrounding white matter is recessed relative to the base plane, and selected neural pathways are represented on an intermediate relief plane.
This piece includes both ascending sensory and descending motor pathways on opposite surfaces of the same model, arranged in the left hemicords of the spinal cord section. This model was manually created in Blender, based on canonical neuroanatomical representations and adapted for educational purposes.
This piece is part of a broader project focused on the development of didactic 3D-printed models for inclusive neuroanatomy education, particularly for students who are blind or have low vision. The project is directed by the Health Science & Education Lab at Fluminense Federal University, Niterói, Brazil.
