Description

We have found Mightex LEDs to be useful but mounting options are few outside direct c-mount threading, which is common in microscope setups. I wanted to mount a Type B LED for a completely different kind of experiment, but the only fastener points available on the LED module are M3 screw holes. I designed this mount to adapt the bottom plate to a standard 1/4" tripod mount. It requires 2-4 M3x8 screws (screw cap 5.5mm diameter, 2mm height) to fasten the adapter to the LED, and a 1/4" hex nut to connect to a tripod mount. Recommended nut size is ~5mm thick, 12.5mm outer diameter (~10.8mm as measured edge-to-edge). This was printed on a 3D printer with tight tolerances; the hole for the hex nut is designed to be sufficiently snug so that a press-fit will stay firmly in place without the need for adhesives. It may be preferable to use a slightly smaller 1/4" nut with or without epoxy to secure it. Once mounted, the nut should stay secure regardless.
