Gripper-Kwawu Overview
The Gripper-Kwawu is a hybrid prosthetic that combines the Gripper Thumb Terminal Device with the Kwawu Socket 2.0 arm system, designed to offer a functional and customizable solution for below-elbow amputees. This model is available in two versions—Short-Forearm and Long-Forearm—to accommodate different limb lengths and user needs, ranging from simplified, rapid-use builds to more modular, full-length configurations.
This is the Long Forearm Version.
The Gripper-Kwawu (Long-Forearm) is a more robust and modular prosthetic designed for individuals with longer residual limbs. It features an extended forearm structure and integrated elbow joint, offering improved reach and mobility for users who require greater arm length. The model incorporates a sliding lock mechanism for secure adjustment and connection with the larger Kwawu arm infrastructure. While it shares the same Gripper Hand mechanism as the Short-Forearm version, this configuration introduces additional assembly steps and components to enhance function and adaptability. Compared to the Short-Forearm version, this model offers a more dynamic range of motion and better mimics natural arm length, making it suitable for recipients who benefit from elbow articulation and modular customization. It is ideal for situations where users can accommodate and benefit from a more structured prosthetic system.
