Description

These parts go together to form a small spectrophotometer that is intended to be used with any mobile phone. To the flat side where the light exits, one can glue a silicone back cover of any mobile phone and use the phone's camera to capture diffraction patterns coming from a DVD wedge. On the inside of the device a wedge that DVD need to be inserted  (glued) and a small (approx 0.6x.6cm2) mirror near the entrance slit. For the latter, self-adhesive mirror foil as used on tiles in bathrooms suffices. In an associated Communication and its Supporting Information in the Journal of Chemical Education (Bruininks & Juurlink, 2022) more details can be found.
