Description

This design is a 3D verkstan style shield that has been adapted to an Essilor Digital CRP, a device used for measuring inter-pupillary distance when performing fitment for glasses. This design was made at the request of opticians and optometrists that our group works with as the working distance of this device places a practitioner very close to a patient's face. The goal here is to have a shield that will help protect both practitioner and patient while these measurements, required for accurate glasses manufacture, are being taken.

The design consists of a three hold punch bracket that fits onto the CRP. Subsequently, a piece of paper or a piece of transparancy is then punched on a standard 3 hole punch and a hole is cut out for the CRP to pass through the sheet. FFD print times (PLA) take approximately 50 minutes for one bracket at 0.250 microns of resolution. This design has been verified to fit the CRP and has also been validated by our optician as functional while also not blocking any of the functions of the CRP.

To the best of our knowledge, this is the first shield available for the CRP.

No rafts or supports are needed.

NOTE: although this is a 3Dverkstan style shield, the hole punch spacement used for the shield is NOT compatable with the traditional hole punch spacement used in a 3Dverkstan shield. A template has been provided to give users the correct spacing needed to correctly generate the shield.
