Description
This is a revised model for the Welch Allyn Retinoscope originally made by Dr. Sigal Yehiam (Pediatric Ophthalmology). The original design did not leave a large enough gap to place the clear shield so I widened the slot. Additionally, the width of the shield was too large for my printer so I shortened and changed the arc.
This print was created with PLA material, at 30% infill, 60º C bed temperature, and printed at 220º C with a 0.4 mm nozzle on an Ender 3 pro printer. The print takes approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes depending on the speed of your 3D printer.
The plastic shield used was PETG film (0.020 inches/0.50mm) thick. You can find them easily on Amazon and other online vendors. The dimensions of the clear shield are 10” wide x 12” tall with a small rectangular cutout (0.75” wide x 0.50” tall) on each upper corner. The clear shield can be secured to the 3D printed holder using a thin strip from a hot glue gun. Make sure to also round off each corner as the PETG material can be sharp if right angle corners are left. Please feel free to contact me at jjkorn@gmail.com
