Description

This design is a remix of a Keeler All Pupil Indirect Ophthlamoscope shield from Dr. Sigal Yehiam (Pediatric Ophthalmology). Similar to our other remixes of Dr. Yehiam's work, the rational for this remix is that the original design requires a fairly tuned printer to obtain the necessary gap size for the transparancy slot; when printed at a high resolution, FFD print times (PLA) take approximately 2 hours. Additionally, our clinic found that the transparancy as printed on our FFD printers were too loose.

As in our previous remixes, this design removes the slot where a transparancy fits into and replaces it with the 6 hole punch spacing from the 3DVerkstan Visor that can be found on the NIH print hub for COVID-19. This allows the shield to be printed by nearly any FDM printer, with a 0.5 mm nozzle or higher, in approximately 15 minutes (PLA). This substantial decrease in print time affords greater capability in deployment.  Additionally, it allows pre-existing hole punched transparancies for the 3DVerkstan Visor to be reused by this design without any modification.

This design has been validated in our ophthalmology clinic to fit the Keeler All Pupil (Old Model) when printed in PLA and PETG.
