Co-developed by Prof. Andreas Mühlenberend and Vertr.-Prof. Jason Reizner, Production optimizations by Kristian Gohlke, M.Sc. This visor is constructed from two to three components laser cut from a single material (transparent 0.5mm PETG or PET film), and is presented as a universal design (‘one size fits all’) requiring no 3D printing or elastics. This design represents a vast improvement in production throughput compared with 3D printing, and ensures maximum usage of material: Eight visors can be cut from 1000x600mm PETG sheet in under five minutes. Preliminary tests indicate that PETG is resistant to disinfection agents including isopropyl alcohol, quaternary ammonium compounds and hydrogen peroxide solution. Many thanks to Kristian Gohlke and Darko Velazquez for their invaluable support with development, process optimization and communication.
