Description
After MANY test prints of a variety of available models I was still looking for a design that minimized retraction and infill for easier FDM 3D Printing. Retractions have the potential to cause surface blemishes that create a risk for snagging gloves. Infill slows down the print speed, reducing part production quantities.
I set out with the goal of creating a model that can be printed with a 0.4mm nozzle with high efficiency on any quality printer. In addition to being a quick-to-print model, it can also be laid out to optimize bed usage. Weighing in at 2.05g, almost ~485 bands can be made with 1kg of material, making it a highly economic option.
While experimenting with the available models, it was found that a band thickness of 0.75mm created an ideal level of flexibility/durability (when printed in PETG). The additional layer on the 'hooks' cover any retractions on the lower layers and create additional structural integrity.
