Description
Compared with several other shield visor designs, including the Budmen original and the modifications made by the Columbia librarians, we liked the IC3D version of the Budmen design, with the acetate containment temple-notch and the lightweighted brim.
However, some small geometry errors present in the IC3D file required some cleanup of the printed parts.
Additionally, the lightweighting on the brim extended all the way back next to the weakest part of the forehead rim, resulting in susceptibility to cracking in our tests.
After making the modifications, we have printed dozens of these cleaned up files already; prints come off the bed clean and ready to assemble for our local trauma center, with a reinforced transition between the lightweighted brim and the forehead rim to avoid cracking observed in prior models.
