This part enables the assembly of a Cressi (Italian) full faced snorkel mask with a ProTeam vacuum HEPA filter 107315 rated to 0.3 microns. This provides a full face solution which may give protection against viruses and other particulates, such as dust, smoke, etc.

 

Italian health care workers are using Cressi masks right this minute. The only difference is this solution uses a HEPA filter you order from Amazon.

 

We are not currently claiming this will completely filter covid, coronavirus or covid-19, but it may help given it uses a sealed system that protects your eyes, nose and mouth with a HEPA grade filter, which is used in a typical vacuum system.

To install, insert the filter side into the front side of the filter (the side without epoxy) and then use duct tape around the perimeter to affix and seal. Slide the snorkel side onto the mask until it stops and is snugged down on the seal. It is recommended to put an additional piece of tape around the snorkel to ensure an airtight seal.

 

The part take 3 hours and 30 minutes to print on a Prusa i3 MK3. No support material required.

 

This configuration is NOT designed to filter exhaled breath, but should effectively filter 99%+ of inbound particulates and organic matter, down to 0.3 microns in size. A conversion for the exhaled breath is forthcoming, but you could easily tape over the valve in the front to enable this feature.
