Description

This 3D Flat Brimmed Face Shield has both the pegs to accept 3 hole punch sheets, a custom slit to tuck in the end of the sheet, and a flat brim to provide full coverage at the top.

This was created by incorporating the best concepts from the DtM v3.1 and IC3D Budmen designs.

The key features are below:

  • Flat brim to allow for full coverage at the top, preventing droplets from falling through the forehead area
  • Sufficient spacing away from face to accomodate goggles, allow for personal comfort
  • Uses hook system to attach elastic (can use a rubber band, buttonhole elastic, etc)
  • 3 pegs for standard 3 hole punch attachment
  • Built in slit to tuck in shield to keep curvature throughout the shield without the use of a bottom piece
  • Allows for foam cushion to be adhered onto the forehead band
  • Design can be worn either way (there is no difference between up and down)

Instructions for Assembly

  1. Punch holes in standard US letter-sized transparency (8.5x11 in) with a standard US three-hole-punch.
  2. Attach transparency to headband on the three mounting pegs.
  3. Slit the excess transparency into the slits.
  4. Attach elastic to headband with cleats near temples, adjust to fit.

This has been used in clincal settings such as:
Harbor-UCLA
Kaiser Permanente (various Southern California locations)
VA hospital in Los Angeles
