Description
The Face Shield prototype was developed with direct feedback and direction from healthcare workers. The Face Shield features a continuous barrier that has no holes or fasteners. It features a curved plastic shield that extends down to the chest and covers the wearer's ears and sides of the head. The transparent guard attaches to a 3D-printed plastic headband that's adjustable. The shield itself can also be adjusted up and down to accommodate each wearer. And it's intended to be easily sanitized by not using rubber or fabric materials. The 3D print file is compatible with most 3D printers that can accommodate the size of the headband. The transparent face shield can be laser cut or hand-cut out of 0.010" or 0.020" thick material, and the 3D printed headband design accommodates both without any additional fasteners.
The Design Features:
- two-part design: 3D printed headband and visor
- one size fits all, comfortable and adjustable fit
- compatible with most 3D Printers, tested with Ultimaker S5
- typical time of the print is within 4-6 hours depending on the equipment and filament used
- was tested with PLA and CPE filaments
- it accommodates two variations of the transparent face shield pattern
