Description

The PRUSA RC3 original circular headband for face shielding has an inner band to be held against the head of the person with an elastic band, and an outer band supporting a simple PVC transparency sheet using three prongs placed along the circle. Their placement is at the proper distance for the US standard three holes for binders. Our remix adds two overhang hooks in front, to better prevent the transparency sheet from accidentally detaching from the prongs. Our remix also makes the outer support band significantly smaller and also the inner band somewhat smaller. The headband is still flexible and resistent. These changes allow two-hour 3D print times, as opposed to the nearly four hours of the original one, while keeping the initial sturdiness and adding on safety. Moreover, for very high risk environments, our remix also covers the space between the outer and the inner band with an incorporated, solidly-affixed ceiling, that was not included as such in the original version of the Prusa RC3. We designed our remix in OpenSCAD, starting from the publicly available .STL file which we imported as an initial object. We were thus able to geometrically add parts to it and also reshape it through OpenSCAD's difference operation. To add the ceiling one simply needs to uncomment the "optional'-marked part in the .scad code and regenerate the .stl.ASMD Safety Remix RC3 Prusa
