Description

A test swab is 3D-printed using selectively laser-sintered (SLS) Nylon12 and Power Bed Fusion. SLS Nylon 12 is bioinert and biocompatible. The shaft should be smooth and flexible so it can enter and navigate the nasopharyngeal path for SARS-CoV-2 collection and not be abrasive. The shaft should not break when slightly bent. The swab bud is spaced such that SARS-CoV-2 can be collected and then released into the transport medium for testing. The material sustains high degree temperature, so the swab could potentially be sanitized and reused for further testing. If the user intends to manufacture the design they have downloaded, they will pursue an emergency use authorization from the FDA.
