Description

This face shield was designed in conjunction with healthcare professionals as a multi- specialty disposable face shield, that will maintain its integrity if needed for reuse and cleaning with standard disinfectants. This design will adapt to work with a range of lens materials in a range of thicknesses. This will change your assembly procedure from press-fit  for thicker materials to requiring #4 x 1/4" stinaless steel medical grade self tapping fasteners. Divots are added to front surface of frame for locating your screws accurately. Solvent can also be used to permanately bond lenses to frames as long as proper cure times are alowed for off gassing during adhesion.

Materials

  1. PLA printed face shield frame
  2. .020"-.060" clear PETG sheet, cut to 9x12" with rounded corners
  3. non-latex 7" x 1/8" rubber band (or similar hospital grade elastic ie. a disposible tourniquet could be used)
  4. 3" strip of 3/4" wide by 1/8" tall closed-cell vinyl foam tape
  5. If press fit is not secure, lens can be secured with self tapping SS fasteners (#4 x 1/4"). Location divots on front surface will allow easy fastening.

This face shield was designed to adhere to hospital requirements as closesly as possible and assembles with readily available materials.

This design and the materials used follow the guidelines set forth by the FDA's Enforcement Policy for Face Masks and Respirators During the Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) Public Health Emergency (Revised) Guidance for Industry and Food and Drug Administration Staff, April 2020
