Description

This is an update of the DIYbio v1.0 orbital shaker posted on Thingiverse by user progressTH: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2633507. The following changes have been made from the original design:

  • Orbital shaker enclosure updated: simplified potentiometer mounting, modified cutouts for power adapter and power switch to allow parts to fit better, added mounting holes for DIYbio orbital shaker custom PCB, updated M4 screw holes to allow screws to sit flush against bottom of case
  • Created assembly documentation: https://scrippsresearch.dozuki.com/Guide/How+to+assemble+a+DIYbio+orbital+shaker/1
  • Increased thickness of motor coupler to reduce coupler failure rate
  • Redesigned various parts to use heat set inserts instead of gluing nuts into parts
  • Redesigned parts which utilize bearings to have press-fit install instead of being hot glued in place
  • Created top plate with hole pattern for holding 125mL, 250mL, 500mL and 1L flasks
  • Case top updated to have notch cut out to accomodate easier install and removal with motor coupler installed

Gerber files for the DIYbio orbital shaker PCB can be found on GitHub here: https://github.com/pierrebaillargeon/DIYbio-orbital-shaker-PCB
