Description
This is a 3D model of the pharyngeal arches in the zebrafish embryo at 42 hours post fertilization. This data is derived from green fluorescent protein expression driven by the fli1a promoter in a transgenic zebrafish embryo. GFP expression is found within the cranial neural crest cells that migrate ventrally from the dorsal hindbrain into streams of multipotent stem cells forming the pharygeal arches. The arches are numbered in the provided picture of the printed model. Note that the "spaces" between the arches are actually composed of cells that form the pharyngeal pouches, which are not in this model as they do not expression the fli1a gene. This data was collected on the Leica SP5 Laser Scanning Confocal Microscope with oversampling, slow acquisition and significant averaging to achieve a high resolution data set. The Leica file was then exported as tifs, and each slice processed in ImageJ for printability and then converted into an STL file type. Authors: Michael J.
