This tube holder was inspired by proprietary cell and tissue homogenizers on the market. This device holds a tube (2 ml conical sample tube) containing a dispersing element like a steel ball bearing. This tube holder is clamped in a chuck adapter (e.g. Reciprotools RCT-A10 Reciprocating Saw Adapter and Neiko 20753A 1/4-Inch Shank Keyless Chuck Conversion Tool) connected to a reciprocating motor (e.g. DEWALT DWE357 10-Amp Compact Reciprocating Saw). Homogenization is accomplished by briefly pulsing the motor 1-10 times for ~ 1 second.
