Description

This model represents the golgi apparatus, an organelle which modifies and sorts proteins in cells.  The original data was collected through cryoEM by Rachid Sougrat, a process of cryogenically freezing a specimen, slicing with a diamond knife called an ultramicrotome, then imaging the sample through the use of Transmission Electron Tomography.  The acquired images were aligned with iMod, then segmented with Amiraby Edwin Funge to produce the geometry, which was then colorized and prepared for printing with 3D Studio Max.
