Description

This is a 3D-printed housing for an automated scanning monochromator that takes a wavelength-specific light source and break it up into its' spectra through the us of a prism and diffraction grating to be further analyzed by a spectrometer. The box, lense holder, and prism gears are printed with 1.75mm PLA. The lenses and prism are attached to their respective parts and an Arduino is used to control a stepper motor for rotating the prism. The average price on the market for an automated monochromator is approximately $8000 (US) or more (according to https://www.newport.com/f/cs260-uv-vis-monochromators) whereas this design runs approximately $40-$50 (US), which accounts for all the 3D-printed components, electronic components, and assorted optics.
